Treatment of Skin Discoloration

Our skin, the most important factor protecting our body from the external environment, is exposed to a large number of internal and external stimuli.

Our skin, the most important factor protecting our body from the external environment, is exposed to a large number of internal and external stimuli. It reacts to some of these stimuli with a localized or generalized increase in pigmentation. When this pigmentation increase is visible and irregular, it leads to serious cosmetic problems and manifests as blemishes. To combat this cosmetic problem, it is essential to first identify and eliminate the underlying causes. Treatment approaches are programmed according to the location, extent, and type of the blemishes. From dermo-cosmetic products to chemical peels, the most suitable application for the skin is selected from a wide range of treatments.

Treatment Options:

• Chemical peels: alpha-hydroxy acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, etc.

• Medications: hydroquinone, arbutin, azelaic acid, cortisone, retinoids, antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, etc.)

• Physical peeling: microdermabrasion.

• Laser therapy: IPL (intense pulsed light) and fractional laser.

After treatment, measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of spots. The most important of these is protection from and avoidance of sunlight. Therefore, avoiding the sun is strongly emphasized for patients undergoing spot treatment.
